Upcomers Challenge Technical Difficulties: What Happens Now?

I encountered some glitches with the Upcomers platform during this challenge. Let's see how this gets resolved.

Frozen Data

The U.S. just switched to daylight savings time, and the Upcomers platform was frozen for me at the market open. Yesterday, as the market opened, I received an alert from Trading View that one of my positions was at the exit criteria. I opened up MT5 to close the position, and the feed was frozen still showing the data from the weekend close. I tried refreshing and reloading the platform, but it was still frozen. I tried logging on from my phone, and it was still frozen. I reached out to the official support team on Discord and also emailed their helpdesk. As expected, the Discord team doesn’t have account access and couldn’t give detailed advice. At 11:30, 2 hours after the market opened, the feed for stocks came alive. The Forex feeds did not appear to be affected. I missed the exit criteria for that position and held the stock. I did not receive a response from the helpdesk until after 10pm. They offered apologies, but suggested that stocks don’t always have price movement. After a few messages exchanged, I don’t think they fully understood the issue and I offered to send them a screen capture the next day.

Today, the issue repeated itself at the market open. I was able to capture a video of the frozen feed and some screenshots, but they have not yet responded. I reached out again on Discord, and was told that others have had issues with stocks since the time change, the team was working on the issue, and I was free to trade other instruments.

Here is a screenshot of TMUS at 2 intervals during the market open today. You can see the discrepancy in price between Upcomer’s MT5 terminal and trading view, and the the price has not changed on MT5.

Today, the terminal came alive at 10:30. I was able to close T and TMUS, both for small profits despite the delay in the data feed and frozen terminal. I emailed those screen shots to customer service, and have not yet received a response.

The Day is just Beginning

With the stocks closed, I had 2 Forex positions open and had met all the targets to pass the first step of the challenge. I closed those 2 positions, one for a loss and one for a gain. The net loss for the Forex pairs was about $100 and the gain from the stocks was about $10. I had the criteria to pass to the next step, so I was expecting the account to be reset to $50k and the next phase to begin.

Success right? Not quite. The account changed to the second stage and reset to $50k. As soon as I logged on to MT5, it said I was in 100% drawdown and the challenge failed. I never placed another trade. Again, I reached out to customer service, and guess what? No response yet.

Previous Technical Difficulties

I opened this account a month ago, and I had some technical difficulties at first. For the first 2 weeks, the web dashboard never updated. I could see the account and the balance on the web, but nothing else. On the MT5 end, everything was working fine. I wasn’t sure if some things weren’t updated until positions were closed, so I waited until I closed a position to contact customer support. I reached out to them by email one evening and woke up to a response and a working dashboard. I didn’t think much about that. It was a new account from a new customer and the trades were logged on MT5. At their time, their response was in a reasonable time, the issue was resolved, and the issue was not critical to begin with.

What Happens Now?

These problems are frustrating, but the support team deserves a chance to respond. I sent the screenshots and the screen capture showing the delay. I sent questions about why the account was failed after passing the first phase and not placing any more trades. Hopefully I get a response.

The Upside?

I still completed the 3% goal in a few weeks. My trading was not perfect, but it was profitable and I did not hit the drawdown. I can continue this strategy and have a better idea how to manage trades on MT5 and work in the prop firm environment. The bootcamp challenge with the 5ers is still going strong.

UPDATE 03/11/2026

I received a response back from customer support. They acknowledged the delay with the stock feed and restored my account to the beginning of the second phase. As far as I am concerned, this is a fair resolution and I will continue to trade on this account. I will update this blog as I continue to trade. Starting the second phase, I have a better understanding how their platform works compared to others. With any prop firm, I think it is important to review the data they provide you when you open a position and make sure you understand how to manage your trades on their platform.

One very important lesson is the importance of keeping a trade journal. This is for your analysis first and foremost, but if there is an issue with your account, you have a record of your trades to show them. In this case, I sent screenshots and position history to customer support. Without that, I would have been at a disadvantage in trying to explain the delay and the trades I made. It takes a few seconds to log your trades in a spreadsheet. Keep it simple and make it part of the habit of entering and exiting a trade. It will pay off in the long run.

Moving on tomorrow. No more trades tonight.

UPDATE 03/24/2026

I noticed this morning that the MT5 terminal was now updating and allowing trades at the market open. Everything appears to be working smooth now.
